How to use Explore

The filter rail has two roll-ups, each with the same six dimensions (VC, Portfolio company, Country, Sector group, Sector, Network role). They behave differently:

Universe filters narrow the cohort. Strict AND across dimensions — a VC must satisfy every active universe filter to stay in the cohort. "UK + Fintech + Hub" gives you UK-based fintech-active VCs that earned the Hub role badge, and excludes everything else. Plus three numeric thresholds (min co-investors, min shared cos, min backers) for further narrowing.

Anchor filters add a syndicate-fit ranking on top — they don't change the cohort. Anchors are reference points; setting one doesn't add or remove VCs from the result, only re-orders them by closeness. The VCs view ranks each peer by a combined score: shared portfolio companies with anchor VCs, shared backers with anchor companies, plus +1 per match on anchor country / sector / sector group / role. So "anchor: Balderton + UK + Fintech" surfaces UK fintech-active VCs that share the most companies with Balderton.

Five view tabs show the same cohort at different zoom levels. VCs — ranked list of investors. Companies — portfolio companies and their cohort backers, paginated. Aggregate — country / sector / role / pair pivots plus recent listings. Co-Investment graph — the cohort's co-investment network as an interactive Cytoscape graph. Shared-Portfolio graph — the cohort's bipartite VC↔company network.

Tips. Every URL is shareable — copy the address bar and the receiver lands on the same filtered view. Anchor chips in the active-filter strip have a coloured background to distinguish them from universe-filter chips. On the graphs, click a node to highlight its neighborhood, double-click to drill into the profile. Some filters apply on specific tabs only (universe Network role on VCs; Min backers on Companies); they're tagged accordingly.

Country, sector, role, and pair-level breakdowns plus recent additions. All pivots are scoped to the active filter cohort.
