How to use Explore

The filter rail has two roll-ups, each with the same six dimensions (VC, Portfolio company, Country, Sector group, Sector, Network role). They each narrow the cohort, in different ways:

Universe filters: strict membership. A VC must satisfy every active universe filter to stay in the cohort. "Country: UK + Sector: Fintech" gives you UK-based fintech-active VCs and excludes everything else.

Anchor filters: connected to a reference set. All active anchors define a "seed" — VCs that match every anchor at the same time. Then the cohort narrows to seed VCs and anyone who shares a portfolio company with them. So "Anchor Country: Singapore + Anchor Sector: Fintech" first finds Singapore-based fintech-active VCs, then surfaces every VC connected to that seed via shared portfolio — including non-Singapore VCs that have ties to Singapore fintech investors.

Within a single dimension, multiple values are OR'd ("Anchor Country: UK + Singapore" → seed VCs from either). Across dimensions, anchor values are AND'd ("Anchor Country: Singapore + Anchor Sector: Fintech" → seed VCs in Singapore AND active in fintech). If the seed comes out empty (e.g. Anchor VC: Balderton + Anchor Country: Singapore — Balderton is UK), the cohort is empty too.

Five view tabs show the same cohort at different zoom levels. VCs — ranked list of investors. Companies — portfolio companies and their cohort backers, paginated. Aggregate — country / sector / role / pair pivots plus recent listings. Co-Investment graph — the cohort's co-investment network as an interactive Cytoscape graph. Shared-Portfolio graph — the cohort's bipartite VC↔company network.

Tips. Every URL is shareable — copy the address bar and the receiver lands on the same filtered view. Anchor chips in the active-filter strip have a coloured background to distinguish them from universe-filter chips. On the graphs, click a node to highlight its neighborhood, double-click to drill into the profile. Some filters apply on specific tabs only (universe Network role on VCs; Min backers on Companies); they're tagged accordingly.

Portfolio companies whose backers fall in the cohort. Each row lists the cohort backers and the date the company was last picked up. Add an Anchor Company to rank by shared backers.
